There is a wide range of superb outdoor as well as indoor and cultural activities suitable for all age groups within one hour drive from Middleham House:

Fly Fishing: River Ure offers exceptional fly fishing for trout and grayling, while River Cover filled with wild brown trout and grayling that are grown to large size. Fly Fishing is possible at other Dales Rivers also. More information on Fly Fishing, lessons and day tickets are available at Yorkshire Dales Fly Fishing.

Shooting: Grouse and Pheasants shoot arrangements can be made with us at Middleham House. Alternatively, you can opt for Clay Pigeon Shooting at Warren Gill in Masham or at Yorkshire Outdoors in Thirsk.

Racing: Racing at York is a fabulous experience. However, there are also fantastic racecourses closer by to Middleham including: Racing at Thirsk, Racing at RiponRacing at Catterick.

Golf: If you would like a game of Golf, then this is possible at Bedale Golf Club or Akebarpark in Wensleydale only ten minutes drive from Middleham.

Riding: Riding lessons or trekking with friends through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales is possible at Masham Riding Centre, 15 minutes drive from Middleham. Other riding clubs include: Boltby Pony Trekking and Trail Riding Centre at Thirsk or Craven Country Ride at Skipton.

Tree top ropes adventure: If your children like adventure then a day out to Aerial extreme  in Bedale or Carlton lodge in Thirsk offer ’Tree top rope adventure’ but also ’Rafting’ and many other outdoor activities.

Day out with kids: There is a wide range of other children activities you can find within a short distance drive from Middleham House.

Paragliding and Paramotoring: Lovers of Paragliding or Paramotoring can experience this at Active Edge in Harrogate.

Gliding & Microlighting: Also Gliding and Microlighting is possible nearby Middleham in Thirsk.

Ballooning: Ballooning can be a fun family or romantic day out. Flights over the Dales are provided at Airborne Adventures in Skipton.

Cycling: There are plenty of charming cycling routes around Middleham, bicycles can be hired at ‘Go Biking’  in Fremingto, about 18 minutes drive from Middleham.

Walking: The Dales is well known for some of the best walks in the UK, walks nearby to Middleham include Aysgarth & Leyburn, and Ripon & Pateley Bridge. There are other picturesque walks further away. To plan your trip you can download walking routes in advance.

Bird watching: There are countless wonderful spots to watch birds, whether you are a beginner or an experience bird watcher, in a group or alone.

Water sports: If you like rafting on the Rivers then that is possible at Xperience Adventure in Ripon.

Motor Sports: For lovers of motor sports, try 4×4 Off Road Driving or Quad Biking at Yorkshire Outdoors in Thirsk.

Rock climbing: If you are a rock climber, Yorkshire Dales offers climbers various interesting climbing routes. Climbing route in Kilnsey is near to Middleham, alternatively, Malham or Skipton is one hour drive away.

Sports Centres: There are various Sports Centres close by to Middleham offering indoor swimming pool, in and outdoor tennis as well as gym facilities. Otherwise Yorebridge Sport and Fitness Center at Askrigg provides great facilities.

Cultural activities: If you are more into cultural then there are plenty of cultural activities to explore in York, Leeds or the beautiful Spa town of Harrogate.
